Zinc lozenges and the common cold: a meta-analysis

Across controlled trials, zinc shortened the duration of common colds — one of the clearest examples of a mineral supporting immune function.

Zinc Picolinate — one of the 49 ingredients in CORE49

An independent summary of published ingredient research, not the original paper or a clinical study of CORE49.

What the research found

The meta-analysis compared zinc acetate and zinc gluconate lozenge trials and examined dose as a possible influence on cold duration. It reported shorter colds in the included high-dose lozenge studies.

The important context

These were lozenges used during a cold, not routine zinc supplementation. Form, dose and contact with the mouth differ from zinc in a daily drink; do not infer the same outcome for CORE49.

Where CORE49 fits

This paper informs our understanding of an individual ingredient. It did not evaluate the finished CORE49 formula. Study populations, ingredient forms and amounts can differ from those in our daily drink; ingredient evidence and formula evidence are not interchangeable.
